TaxOps welcomes Marisa Barslund to the team as a senior tax accountant and business consultant. Marisa joins TaxOps after years of experience in both the private sector and public accounting.
Marisa is an accomplished tax professional with broad knowledge in federal and state and local tax compliance and reporting for a variety of entity types, including high net-worth individuals. She has previous experience as a tax accountant specializing in accounting for income taxes at Arrow Electronics, Inc., and in public accounting with a regional tax firm, where she was point person for clients with complex tax needs.
“We are excited to have Marisa join us,” Allen Gregory, federal tax partner, said. “Her diverse middle-market client experience and expertise fits well with our culture and client base.”
Marisa was drawn to the TaxOps business model, which combines tax-technical expertise with business consulting. “No one wants to overpay taxes,” she says. “It takes strategy to reduce business taxes and put clients in the best possible tax position.”
The firm’s emphasis on professional growth and work/life balance was also a plus. “It’s so nice to work with people willing to share knowledge,” she says. Marisa enjoys her days off playing board games, reading, and hanging out with her husband and dog Abu.
