Twice a year, on January 1st and July 1st, the Colorado Department of Revenue – Taxation Division implements sales and use tax rate changes for state-administered jurisdictions. These changes are compiled into a Tax Rate Memo. The January 1, 2021 rate change memo has been released. Click the button below to view sales and use tax rate changes.

The Sales Tax Rate Changes web page contains changes to existing sales or use tax rates. This page does not contain all tax rates for a business location. Tax rate changes administered by the State of Colorado, Department of Revenue become effective either January 1 or July 1. Ordinances and resolutions are adopted 90 to 120 days prior to an election. Most elections take place in the spring and fall each year. Election dates are governed by TABOR (Taxpayer Bill of Rights) in Section 20 of Article X in the state constitution.
