Kim Parrish – Accounting for Income Tax Specialist

Kim is a CPA with over 25-years experience in corporate and partnership tax in both public and private companies across industries. She brings a continuous improvement focus to her role in increasing tax efficiencies and identifying strategic planning opportunities. Her tax specialties include:
- Income tax accounting (ASC 740/FAS 109), including preparation, review and consulting
- Sarbanes Oxley governance, focusing on minimizing financial restatement risk
- Building and managing effective and resource-efficient tax functions
- Tax controversy defense
- Modeling to improve tax planning
- Tax transaction (M&A) work and due diligence
In recent years, Kim has focused her work on small and mid-size businesses, helping them to understand their tax obligations and filing requirements and the impact of policy changes to reduce risk. Her work building and reviewing financial models supports cost control, profit realization, and budgetary requirements as well as provides data and analytics that inform stakeholders of the impact of tax on business strategy.
In addition to her work with PricewaterhouseCoopers and EY, Kim helped establish a tax department and manage tax controversy work for Cloud Peak Energy during the NYSE-traded company’s IPO and secondary offering in its first year of operations. She also held several positions with Newmont Mining Corporation, both in the US and with Newmont Asia Pacific, where she was instrumental in establishing an effective tax accounting function, managing external relationships with auditors, and creating a control structure around Sarbanes Oxley requirements.
Kim received her Master of Taxation from the University of Denver and a BS in finance from the University of Colorado in Boulder.
