44th Annual Meeting
September 29 – September 30 | Washington, D.C.
Hosted by the National Association of State Bar Tax Sections
MEETING SESSION
Sales Tax Automation for Lawyers
Friday, September 29, 8:30 pm – 9:30 pm
After all the planning is done, the right tax must be collected and the numbers must end up on a sales tax form. This panel will explore the mysterious world of sales tax software automation from the perspective most beneficial to attorneys/advisors who typically don’t get involved in the automation process. The panelists will cover the broader scope of the sales tax compliance ecosystem, and the specific challenges involved in implementing a sales tax engine, including actual system configuration such as nexus, tax code selection, entity setup, and exemption certificate upload. The panelists will also discuss best practices managing a tool that many, mistakenly, retreat as a set-it-and-forget-it system.
Alexander Korzhen, TaxOps and Chair of NASBTS, will moderate this session with panelists Christine Pope, CEO at TaxValet.
MEETING SESSION
Tax Section Boot Camp
Friday, September 29, 3:30 pm – 5:00 pm
State Bar tax section leaders from around the country will discuss what works and what doesn’t work in their organizations. Discussion will center around challenges and how they are successfully met in bringing best tax resources to their members, and on how to attract and retain members.
Alexander Korzhen, TaxOps and Chair of NASBTS, will moderate this session with panelist Christine Pope, CEO at TaxValet.
